Subscribe to our newsletterIn preparation for our upcoming network upgrade (Wasabi), RSK Testnet will be reset and network servers updated with a new and enhanced version of the RSK client node. What does a Testnet reset mean? A reset is a fresh start of the blockchain. All servers provided by RSK will be restarted and upgraded to a […]
Blockchain technology has the potential to transform the lives of billions of people by generating social impact. Just to mention a few examples, it can bank the unbanked, increase traceability on many products and services that we consume on a daily basis, create digital identities, reward scientific and medical research, etc. According to an interesting […]
When thinking about blockchain technology, people many times tend to think solely about cryptocurrencies, tokens and crowdfunding through digital assets. However, these are just expressions of a technology that has the potential to transform multiple industries and organizations. Just like the Internet, blockchain technology has the capacity to transform the lives of billions of people […]
Blockchain as a technology has a lot of different use-cases. Just to mention a few, we can use it as a way to store value (Bitcoin), as a way to deploy the code that controls organization (DAOs), as a crowdfunding method through crypto-assets (ICOs, STOs & Private Sales) or as a programmable framework to execute […]
On this post, we analyze with RSK´s Chief Scientist, Sergio Lerner, the cutting edge of sidechains with Liquid and RSK. By Sergio Lerner In 2016 Blockstream proposed Pegged Sidechains as possible path to scale Bitcoin. The first original Sidechain concept was a combination of atomic swaps using cross-chain SPV proofs (as in p2ptradex) and alt-chains. […]
On this post, we analyze the main differences between RSK, Ethereum & EOS. On its paper entitled A Next-Generation Smart Contract and Decentralized Application Platform, Vitalik Buterin was already mentioning the possibility to explore blockchain technology for many different uses besides acting as a mean to store value through Bitcoin. Quoting from his whitepaper: “However, […]
We are happy to announce the launch of IOV Labs brand. IOV is the brand behind RSK and RIF Platforms. RIF Labs that acquired RSK Labs will soon be renamed IOV Labs in order to differentiate the organization from the open source RSK and RIF OS protocols that the company built in order to extend Bitcoin […]
On this post, we get the April 2019 AMA answers from RSK & RIF Chief Scientist, Sergio Lerner. What real world use case projects are under development? Do you have any examples? There has been an acceleration of developers choosing to build their solution on top of RSK. Some of the solutions/implementations already available on […]
A new RSK Orchid release has been published in our Github repo. This release contains performance improvements, storage requirements decrease and minor bug fixes. Several codebase refactors and cleanup are also part of this milestone. This is a summary of the changes included in this version: Codebase refactors and cleanup (#803, #796, #798, #792, #786) […]
A few days ago Microsoft added RSK Smart MainNet as a public blockchain to be run on Azure as a service, making RSK one of the few public blockchains currently supported by a major cloud provider like Microsoft. The integration with Microsoft’s blockchain-as-a-service marketplace (BaaS) allows developers to deploy and configure an RSK node in […]
On this post, we get the answers from Diego Zaldivar’s AMA. How exactly does the 2-way peg work for RBTC? Is it a Smart Contract? Do exchanges deal with this in real time? Can end-users also interact with this smart-contract directly, without having to go through an exchange? If so: how? If not: why not? […]
RSK was born in 2015 as an Ethereum-compatible Bitcoin sidechain. Back in 2016, when the RSK sidechain was still under development, we decided to improve and simplify its design by replacing one of the key components of Ethereum: the account trie, also called “world state” trie in Ethereum’s yellow paper. The world-state trie is the […]
