LayerZero Integrates Rootstock: Building Bridges to Bitcoin DeFi

It’s official! Rootstock is now integrated with LayerZero, a cross-chain messaging protocol that enables interoperability between blockchains. This integration unlocks seamless movement of Bitcoin-backed assets across 100+ blockchains.

For the first time, you can move your Bitcoin across different DeFi ecosystems without complicated bridges, high fees, or slow transactions.

In short, this integration means that there are:

  • No more complex bridges to Rootstock: rBTC (the most secure version of Bitcoin) and RIF (Rootstock’s utility token) move freely between networks.
  • Lower costs, faster transactions: LayerZero and Stargate make transfers smooth and cheap.
  • Bitcoin-powered DeFi on every major chain: Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, and more.

Explore how you can put your BTC to work in the Rootstock ecosystem

Bringing Bitcoin’s $1.5 Trillion Liquidity Into DeFi

Bitcoin is the most valuable asset in crypto. However, Bitcoin’s liquidity has been difficult to access on other networks due to Bitcoin’s lack of native smart contracts and reliance on wrapped tokens.

Rootstock solves this problem by giving Bitcoin smart contract capabilities, and now with LayerZero’s integration, it’s now easier than ever to use rBTC and RIF across multiple chains.

“Bitcoin is the foundation of digital finance,” said Bryan Pellegrino, CEO of LayerZero. “Connecting Rootstock to 100+ chains through LayerZero is a huge step forward, and it’s great to see the entire crypto industry coming together.”

rBTC and RIF Go Multichain

With this integration, rBTC and RIF will be available on Base, Arbitrum, and Ethereum, with Solana coming soon. This expansion makes Rootstock assets more accessible to a wider audience and strengthens Bitcoin’s role in multi-chain DeFi.

This means that now you can:

  • Bridge rBTC, RIF, USDC, and USDT across 20+ leading blockchains.
  • Enter Rootstock for FREE.
  • Move assets with near-zero slippage and 90% lower gas fees with Stargate’s platform.

What this brings to Rootstock users and developers

For BTC holders:

  • Faster, cheaper, and simpler access to DeFi.
  • Use Bitcoin without relying on centralized exchanges.
  • More flexibility to lend, borrow, stake, and earn with Bitcoin-backed assets.

For developers:

  • Easily move assets across chains. No need for multiple bridges.
  • Tap into deeper liquidity without limitations.
  • Make onboarding seamless by allowing users to enter and exit Rootstock through the most trusted bridge in crypto.

Be part of the Bitcoin DeFi future

By making rBTC and RIF available across more blockchains, Rootstock is helping bridge the gap between Bitcoin and Ethereum-based DeFi.

This integration ensures Bitcoin’s liquidity remains secure while making it easier than ever to use across multiple blockchains.
