Read Time: 1 mins
Orchid v0.6.0 Network Upgrade

The RSK network will be undergoing a planned network upgrade at block number 1,052,700. This is expected to happen on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019. RSK Testnet network upgrade will happen at block number 233,000, expected on the same date.

What is a network upgrade ?

A network upgrade is a change or group of changes to the protocol consensus rules, which are activated at a defined block number. As a consequence, if you adhere to these changes, please upgrade to the new client version before the network upgrade is activated. Otherwise, the non-updated node will remain on an incompatible chain.

How do I upgrade ?

Download and update your RSKj node to Orchid v0.6.0. before the upgrade is activated. This release has already been made available in our Github repo.

What changes are included in Orchid v0.6.0 ?

This is a summary of the changes included in this version:

  • RSK VM STATIC_CALL opcode has been aligned to Ethereum’s implementation to enable support for Solidity 0.5.x contracts (Activated at Network Upgrade time)
  • Added support for method eth_gasPrice
  • Reported Websockets issue has been fixed (Github issue #700)

You can find a complete list of the changes introduced in the corresponding Github milestone.

Version 0.6.0 release’s sha256 sum is a826a2f560fb85fad82d93532af4978f47e1cc0d1d25f2579380ca32e866aa58 rskj-core-0.6.0-ORCHID-all.jar. See Reproducible Build guide for further details.

Introducing Union Bridge on Testnet: Verifiable Bitcoin Bridging Begins

Now live on Rootstock Testnet, Union introduces a new model for Bitcoin interoperability based on verification rather than trust. By strengthening the security assumptions behind how BTC moves into programmable environments, Union reinforces Rootstock’s role as the Bitcoin-aligned smart contract platform. This first release is experimental and not production-ready, but it lays the foundation for […]
