Introducing the New rBTC Visual

In 2022, the Rootstock community voted to adopt a new visual identity for the Rootstock ecosystem, establishing a more modern and unified brand system across the network.

Today, we’re unveiling an updated logo for rBTC designed to align more closely with the Rootstock ecosystem identity and reflect its role in extending Bitcoin into smart contracts, payments, lending, and on-chain capital markets.

New rBTC logo

The updated rBTC logo reflects the evolution of the Rootstock ecosystem and its growing role in enabling borrowing, lending, investment, and payments secured by Bitcoin. As with the rest of the Rootstock brand identity including the iconic Rootstock Sans font, all of the assets are fully open source.

Why The Logo Was Updated

The updated rBTC icon reflects the evolution of the Rootstock ecosystem and the growing range of applications built around Bitcoin-secured smart contracts.

The refreshed logo introduces:

  • A cleaner and more modern visual system
  • Improved scalability and readability across platforms
  • Stronger alignment with Rootstock’s ecosystem identity
  • A recognizable and future-ready symbol for Bitcoin utility on Rootstock

Importantly, this update also brings the rBTC token icon into closer alignment with the Rootstock visual identity adopted through a community vote in 2022. It also reinforces the role of rBTC as a network-compatible representation of BTC rather than a distinct or unrelated asset.

BTC bridged into Rootstock remains economically tied to the underlying bitcoin held on Bitcoin Layer 1. The purpose of rBTC is to enable bitcoin to participate in smart contracts, applications, payments, lending, and other forms of Bitcoin-secured financial activity on Rootstock without changing its underlying economic exposure.

This update is strictly visual and does not affect the functionality or infrastructure of rBTC.

What Is Not Changing

This update does not affect:

  • The functionality of rBTC
  • Smart contracts or integrations
  • Token economics
  • Wallet compatibility
  • Exchange listings
  • Existing infrastructure or technical operations

This is strictly a visual identity update intended to improve brand consistency and ecosystem recognition across platforms. rBTC continues as before: enabling individuals, institutions, and developers to put bitcoin, the world’s most pristine digital collateral, to work on Rootstock.

Official rBTC Logo Assets

Partners, exchanges, wallets, explorers, and media platforms can access the official updated brand assets here.

Wallet providers, exchanges, explorers, ecosystem applications, and media platforms are encouraged to update visual references over time to improve consistency across the ecosystem.

Rollout Timeline

The updated rBTC branding has officially begun rolling out across official websites, ecosystem partner platforms, and other tools. During the transition period, both the previous and updated logos may temporarily coexist across certain channels and integrations.

Looking Ahead

As the Rootstock ecosystem continues to expand, maintaining clear and consistent visual standards across platforms becomes increasingly important.

The core contributors are grateful to our community of builders, believers, capital allocators and individuals whose ongoing support has made Rootstock what it is today. partners, and contributors whose ongoing support continues to drive the growth of Rootstock and rBTC. It is clear Bitcoin will underpin the future of global finance, and rBTC is already playing a critical role in ensuring  that future is one that works for everyone.
