What is Builder Rootcamp?

Builder Rootcamp is a 10-week, cohort-based, learn and earn program that moves you from curious to shipping on Rootstock. You’ll combine live sessions with structured self-study and weekly assignments, then finish with a final project.

By the end, you’ll hold a verified portfolio of approved contributions, clear proof of what you can ship, professional exposure across the Rootstock ecosystem, and access to the RootstockCollective’s invite-only builder community.

Cohort 1 is limited to 30 developers to keep the experience high-quality and hands-on.

Why this matters

Developers hit two hurdles on any new stack: getting set up quickly and getting useful feedback on what they ship. Rootstock closes the tooling gap by letting you build with Solidity and familiar EVM tools while enjoying the security of Bitcoin. Builder Rootcamp takes it from there with a clear learning sequence, weekly practice mapped to Hacktivator contribution paths, and timely reviews that keep you unblocked. You learn, apply, and get recognized in one loop, so progress is visible every week, and you build toward a meaningful capstone.

What you’ll experience

Across ten weeks, you’ll go from fundamentals to shipping real code, supported by mentors and live Q&A. Learn core concepts, apply them through Hacktivator contributions, and build toward a final project you can show to peers and hiring managers. Approved work earns double Hacktivator rewards, turning progress into both earnings and a verified portfolio. Graduates receive Rootstock certification, RootstockCollective’s invite-only builder community, and potential exposure to professional opportunities across the ecosystem

Rootcamp & Hacktivator

Rootcamp and Hacktivator are designed to be mutually reinforcing. Each week, Rootcamp assignments are completed through the Hacktivator Marketplace, transforming lessons into actual code contributions. Approved work qualifies for double Hacktivator rewards throughout the program, creating a continuous loop of learning, shipping, and earning.

Why join the priority list?

Cohort 1 is limited to 30 builders, and the priority list is the best way to get early consideration. You’ll signal interest, share your background, and place yourself at the front of the review queue ahead of the wider applicant pool.

Who should apply?

EVM-native devs curious about building on Bitcoin, Bitcoiners ready to ship smart contracts, and Web2 engineers making the leap to Web3 will all feel at home here. If you bring curiosity and follow-through, this cohort brings the structure, mentorship, and incentives to keep you on track.

Merged Mining in Action: Bridging Secured by Miners, Not Just Signers

Most people evaluate Bitcoin bridges with a simple shortcut: is it a federation, or is it a validator model? In that mental model, a federation bridge is a multisig controlled by a set of known parties. A validator model is a separate group that watches one chain and attests to actions on another. Both categories […]
