Aori Integrates with Rootstock to Unlock Cross-Chain Bitcoin DeFi

The Bitcoin DeFi ecosystem continues to grow as new infrastructure connects it to the broader decentralized finance landscape. A new integration is now making it easier for users to move capital across chains while accessing Bitcoin-based financial applications.

Aori is now live on Rootstock, introducing its intent settlement protocol to the Bitcoin smart contract ecosystem. This integration creates a new pathway for cross-chain liquidity, allowing assets to move between networks while opening access to Bitcoin DeFi opportunities.

The rollout begins with support for USDT0, with additional assets such as rBTC expected to follow as the integration expands.

For the Rootstock community, this means a simpler, faster, more efficient way to move assets across chains while engaging with a growing suite of Bitcoin-based financial applications.

What Aori Brings to Cross-Chain Trading

Aori is a universal intent settlement protocol that enables secure peer-to-peer asset exchange across blockchain networks. It solves a persistent challenge in decentralized finance: moving assets across chains without relying on centralized intermediaries.

Traditional cross-chain interactions often require multiple manual steps, bridging assets, interacting with different platforms, executing several transactions, adding delays, extra fees, and complexity. Aori simplifies this with user intents, which describe the outcome a user wants to achieve. For example, a user can move USDT0 across supported networks by submitting a single intent through Aori, without needing to manage multiple steps manually.

Specialized liquidity providers, called solvers, compete to fulfill intents by supplying assets and routing liquidity across chains. Once a match is found, Aori’s lightweight smart contracts coordinate atomic on-chain settlement. This trust-minimized model ensures secure execution without relying on a centralized party.

Aori also provides visibility into order status, execution details, routing, making the process transparent and predictable. By unifying liquidity across networks, it reduces friction and delivers a seamless cross-chain experience.

Why Rootstock and Aori Are a Strong Match

Rootstock extends Bitcoin with smart contract functionality, enabling lending markets, decentralized exchanges, and other financial tools built around Bitcoin-aligned infrastructure. This makes it one of the most secure environments for developing Bitcoin-native DeFi applications.

Aori complements this foundation with a proven cross-chain liquidity layer, having already facilitated over $600,000,000 in settled volume and continuing to grow. While Rootstock provides a secure base for Bitcoin DeFi, Aori enhances how users access and move capital across chains.

Together, they create a more efficient cross-chain experience. Rootstock users gain an additional pathway to external liquidity across networks such as Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, and Optimism, with faster and more cost-efficient routing. At the same time, Aori users gain a simpler route into Bitcoin-secured DeFi on Rootstock.

This connectivity reduces onboarding friction, simplifies access to Rootstock applications, and enables capital to move more freely between ecosystems. For developers, it also unlocks new possibilities, allowing wallets, trading platforms, and DeFi protocols on Rootstock to integrate cross-chain trading and liquidity routing without building complex bridging infrastructure.

How the Integration Benefits Users

The Aori integration delivers tangible benefits for both Aori, Rootstock users.

For Aori users: Rootstock becomes a gateway into Bitcoin DeFi. Users can now access lending markets, trading venues, emerging BTCFi strategies built on Bitcoin-secured smart contracts. This opens the door to participating in Rootstock-native yield opportunities while remaining connected to their existing multi-chain assets.

For Rootstock users: Aori introduces a faster, simpler way to move assets across chains. Users can submit an intent to swap, bridge, route liquidity, have specialized solvers fulfill it without relying on multiple bridging steps. This reduces friction, transaction costs while increasing the speed of capital movement. Users can now access external liquidity efficiently, making it easier to participate in broader DeFi strategies.

By supporting a wide range of assets over time, the integration strengthens the Rootstock ecosystem, enhances capital efficiency for both developers, users. As new assets are added, cross-chain activity becomes smoother, liquidity depth grows across the network.

Connecting Bitcoin DeFi to Broader Liquidity

Liquidity fragmentation remains one of the biggest challenges in DeFi. Capital often sits isolated on different networks, limiting opportunities for efficient trading, lending, yield strategies.

Aori addresses this challenge by coordinating trades between participants across chains, settling them atomically via smart contracts. Instead of relying on complex bridging workflows, its solver network routes liquidity where it is needed, minimizing friction for end users.

For Rootstock, this means smoother asset movement, improved access to external liquidity pools. By connecting Bitcoin DeFi to broader ecosystems, the integration helps capital flow more freely, enabling both developers, investors to maximize opportunities without compromising security.

Over time, integrations like this contribute to a more unified cross-chain environment. They allow Bitcoin-based applications to operate in concert with other blockchain networks, unlocking new markets, deepening liquidity access for everyone involved.

What Users Can Expect

The first phase of the integration focuses on USDT0, with rBTC, additional assets planned for rollout in the coming months. Early access allows users to experience a faster, lower-cost method of moving assets across chains while accessing Rootstock’s growing suite of DeFi applications.

Users can expect:

  • Efficient asset movement between chains with reduced bridging steps
  • Lower transaction costs, faster execution compared to traditional methods
  • Access to Rootstock lending markets, trading venues, BTCFi strategies
  • A seamless experience through Aori’s solver network, which competes to provide optimal execution for each intent

As the integration expands, more assets are supported, these benefits will continue to grow, strengthening the Rootstock ecosystem, deepening connectivity across networks.

Getting Started with Aori on Rootstock

Rootstock users can begin exploring cross-chain liquidity immediately through the Aori interface. From there, they can view supported assets, submit intents, move funds seamlessly between networks while tapping into the Bitcoin DeFi ecosystem.

Developers can also leverage Aori’s TypeScript, Rust SDKs, as well as its REST, WebSocket APIs, to build cross-chain applications or integrate liquidity routing into existing platforms.
