Unveiling the All-New Rootstock Developer Portal & Docs

At the beginning of the year, core contributors to Rootstock put a public roadmap into work, proposing improvements to the network in the next 12 months. One of the key focuses of the roadmap is to provide developers with the tools and resources to build on Rootstock and extend Bitcoin’s purpose and functionality.

This is where the renewed developer portal comes into play!

Check out the new developer docs and share your feedback or submit an Issue.

What’s happening?

Do you use the Rootstock Developer Portal? And what challenges did you encounter?

These among other series of guided questions were asked in the last Rootstock developer docs survey. Developer frustration with docs was a common challenge.

At the time of releasing the survey, Rootstock’s narrative was shifting and part of that narrative was to push usability improvements across Rootstock’s total products. Armed with this overarching goal and the answers from respondents, Rootstock’s core contributors’ goal was clear: to create a developer experience that is not just good, but exceptional. This meant reimagining the Rootstock documentation from the ground up.

What’s changing?

The foundation of the new developer docs is built on a deep understanding of the Rootstock users and developers, focusing on creating a platform that is both informative and intuitive. Regardless of your experience level, you’ll find the resources and support you need to build and deploy dApps on Rootstock.

The renewed developer portal includes:

  • Improved navigation for faster access to information: The new navigation flow ensures that different users, no matter their experience level, are well catered for and the content is streamlined to capture their needs.
  • Reduced content volume by 50% while maintaining essential information.
  • Improved search success rate by 35%.
  • Improved search with ASK AI for intelligent information retrieval.
  • Dark and White mode for personalized preferences.
  • Localization features for a global developer reach.
  • Accessibility features for an inclusive experience.
  • A dedicated changelog page to stay informed about the latest product updates.

What’s next for the docs?

The RootstockLabs DevEx team behind this project is excited about the improvement of the developer docs and promises to continuously enhance the overall developer experience with a roadmap that includes:

  • AI-powered search enhancements to provide even more relevant results.
  • Interactive code examples and tutorials to accelerate learning.
  • Sandboxes for hands-on experimentation.
  • Community contributions to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Explore the new Rootstock Developer Docs and share your feedback. Your input is invaluable as the team continues to refine and improve the platform.

Together, we can make Bitcoin work for everyone.
