Rootstock Integrates USDT0 to Unlock BTCFi at Scale

Rootstock, the most secure Bitcoin DeFi (BTCFi) layer, is now home to USDT0, the omnichain deployment of Tether’s USDT.

This integration connects the world’s most trusted stablecoin with Bitcoin’s most secure BTCFi layer, offering a unified and composable dollar asset for Rootstock’s fast-growing DeFi ecosystem.

Why This Matters

With LayerZero connectivity previously live on Rootstock, users were already benefiting from direct access to thousands of applications on leading blockchains.

And now with USDT0 live on Rootstock via LayerZero’s OFT standard, Rootstock users and developers can now access native, omnichain USDT, backed 1:1 by Ethereum-based USDT, directly.

Why USDT0 Chose Rootstock

Rootstock is the most secure BTCFi chain, combining the security of Bitcoin’s proof-of-work with full EVM compatibility, and a diverse BTCFi ecosystem including Sovryn, Tropykus, Midas and Mynt that are already using Rootstock to deliver Bitcoin-backed loans, perpetuals, and yield opportunities.

And when it comes to the technology, Rootstock provides the standard for sidechains including:

  • The PowPeg: The most secure bridge to Bitcoin, secured by >80% of Bitcoin’s hashrate via merged mining
  • Fast block times (20-25s) and low fees
  • Integrated RIF Services Layer for identity, payments, and cross-chain communication

Now, with the addition of USDT0, Rootstock becomes the most composable, capital-efficient environment to build and trade on Bitcoin.

What USDT0 Unlocks on Rootstock

  • Unified Liquidity: USDT0 moves natively across chains and apps, removing fragmentation and powering deeper liquidity on DEXs.
  • Simplified UX: No need for wrappers or external bridges. USDT0 reduces friction for users, builders, and protocols alike.
  • Better Trades, Better Tools: With a single, omnichain stablecoin, builders get composability and users get tighter spreads and lower slippage.
  • Scalability by Design: As Rootstock expands into new ecosystems, USDT0’s OFT standard makes it easy to scale liquidity across networks.

Building the Future of Bitcoin-Backed Finance

USDT0 marks a critical step in Rootstock’s mission to unlock Bitcoin’s full economic potential. It gives builders a native dollar rail that works seamlessly across chains, and does so without compromising Bitcoin-level security.

For the BTCFi ecosystem, this integration means:

  • More efficient capital markets
  • Better access to liquidity
  • A stronger foundation for building the next generation of onchain financial apps

Parallel Transaction Execution: Why Blockchain Needs to Learn to Multitask

As blockchain networks continue to mature, the conversation around scalability is changing. For years, the focus has largely been on increasing throughput and reducing transaction costs. Those metrics still matter, but they don’t tell the full story of what it takes to support applications at scale. Today’s blockchain networks are expected to support a much […]
