Bitcoin Bridging Just Got Faster and Safer on Rootstock

Rootstock has upgraded its Bitcoin bridging infrastructure with the release of PowPeg App v2.6 and Flyover v2.1.2, making it easier, faster, and safer to move BTC to Rootstock.

These updates strengthen Rootstock’s position as the most secure Bitcoin sidechain and the best place to put your Bitcoin to work in DeFi.

Here’s What’s New

  1. Fewer Mistakes When Entering Addresses
Since its launch in 2018, the PowPeg has been the most secure bridge to Bitcoin. And with the release of v2.6, the PowPeg app now checks your address to make sure it’s correct before you send your BTC. This helps avoid sending funds to the wrong place.
  2. Bigger and Faster Transactions
You can now move up to 5 BTC at once using Flyover, and the process takes about 20 minutes, not hours.
  3. A More Reliable Bridging Experience
Behind the scenes, Flyover has been upgraded to make everything run more smoothly. This means fewer errors and a more stable experience when moving BTC to Rootstock.

Why It Matters

  • It’s safer – The app double-checks your address before sending.
  • It’s quicker – Bridging now takes minutes instead of hours.
  • It just works better – Smoother process, fewer issues.

If you’re using Rootstock to earn yield, use DeFi apps, or simply want your Bitcoin to do more, it’s now easier than ever to get started.

Curious About The Technical Details?

Powpeg App v2.6:

  • RSK Address Checksum Validation: Prevents errors by ensuring address accuracy.
  • Integrated Flyover SDK v1.6.3: Enhances performance and reliability of BTC-to-RBTC bridging.
  • Fast Mode Transaction: The limit now is up to 5 BTC / RBTC.

Flyover v2.1.2:

  • Flyover SDK v1.6.3: Upgraded to make integrating Flyover to Apps more efficient and robust and added read only connection support and improved contract interactions.
  • Liquidity Provider Server (LPS) v2.1.2: Upgraded server capabilities for LPs, ensuring robust liquidity and performance for BTC-RBTC bridging..
  • Bridges Core SDK v0.4.2: Strengthened core bridging logic, improving reliability and scalability for transactions..
